Rarely seen in the United States, this game set is for the Japanese version of mahjong. Japanese mahjong makes use of ''riichi'' scoring rules, and a unique tile called the ''Dora'' tile which throws an element of luck and uncertainty into the game. Japanese mahjong is also the standard mahjong game in much of northern Europe. This set includes a beautifully finished wooden rosewood veneer box with a red felt interior, and weighty melamine white tiles with designs that jump off the surface. Four 'red five' dora tiles and all the dragon tiles are included. It's a gorgeous set, and the Japanese variant of the game is a fascinating new experience for a mahjong fan.
